The Sunny Patch

This has been such a productive weekend. Yesterday we decided to do a little gardening. We transplanted a Heavenly Bamboo from the front of our house, over to near our garage. This started a chain reaction and we decided to buy three more baby heavenly bamboo plants and some Irish Moss ground cover. We're trying to make the area between our yard and our neighbors yard look better and keep the weeds at bay. We're hoping the Irish moss does its thing and spreads like crazy, and that the bamboo grows fast and hides our garbage cans.

Then this morning we decide it's finally time to fix our sprinklers. Our dogs like to chew up all of our drip and we have some large normal bamboo that needs the water and they are starting to yellow and look sick because they are not getting enough water. The plan was to just fence them off so we could lay down the drip and the dogs couldn't get into it. but then hubby suggests making the enclosure larger so I can plant a garden!!! I am so psyched!! I have been wanting my own garden forever but we could never figure out how to do it without the dogs eating it up.

This morning and into the afternoon we put down fencing. We replaced drip and sprinklers, and we got areas ready for the new square foot garden which I am calling The Sunny Patch. We also fenced off some trees that we had and now we can even plant a new cherry tree and it will be safe from the jaws of our two dogs!

The wheels in my head are spinning. I know what veggies and fruits I want to plant. We still need to build the raised beds but I am hoping we can work on that over the week. I just need some wood, some compost and mulch stuff, and the plants of course!!

I cannot wait to feed my family fresh grown veggies and fruits from our own garden. It's been years of me wanting to do this and finally it's going to happen!
