This is the current topic in our house right now. Hubby and I watched a documentary called Fat, sick, and nearly dead and it's about a guy named Joe who drank nothing but juice for 60 days and he totally turned his life around and he started a movement to help others do the same thing with their lives. The documentary really hit home with hubby and me. We'd like to do something similar but we're unsure if we can commit to the juicer for a few reasons.
One reason is that juicing requires a juicer and the prices range from around one hundered dollars up to nearly two hundred. Unlike a blender really the only use for a juicer is juicing, and if we fail hard at this well then we have bought ourselves a very expensive paperweight.
Another reason we're wary is that juicing is mostly vegetables and hubby, nor I, really like to eat that many vegetables, let alone drink their juices. We're more fruit juice kind of people.
Lastly they quoated the cost of juicing to be around fourteen dollars a day, per person. Ouch!! That's a lot of money, more than we spend on us per day for food that's for sure.
So that leads us to smoothies. Smoothies are made with mostly fruit and some veggies. They require only a blender and we have one of those already. Smoothies may still be costly though, but hopefully they taste better than straight vegetable juice,
Right now we're waiting. My eldest needs to meet with a metabolism specialist sometime soon, and depending on what her doctor tells her that may determine with route we go, if any at all.
Feel free to weigh in on the discussion of what you prefer a smoothie or fresh juice?
